Transferred to the Army of Northern Virginia, Feb 1864, and joined Davis' Mississippi Brigade, where he commanded the Sharp Shooters. He was in all important battles from the Wilderness until 2 Apr 1865, when badly wounded and captured. Imprisoned at Old Capital Prison at Washington, and at Johnson's Island. Released 31 Jul 1865.
