I am attempting to find the names of the parents of my great great grandfather
James French. James and Elizabeth Rice French were married in
Lauderdale County in l847. We believe James' father was Jeremiah French
- who died in Lauderdale County around l832. However we have no
documentation showing this.
Jeremiah French was the son of Benjamin French of Limestone
County and later of Lauderdale County. We understand that Jeremiah and his wife (Jane?) died rather young and their
seven sons and one daughter were probably sent to live with various relations.
Any suggestions as to how we might be able to confirm James French was the son
of Jeremiah French - who by the way was the son of Benjamin French of Limestone
County and later of Lauderdale County - will be greatly appreciated.
