Date: 2 Jan 2006
I am looking for history, stories and information surrounding the John & Margaret McDonald family (children: Amos, Matthew, Elias, Thomas A., Joseph E.) having arrived here from Lawrence Co, TN in the early 1800's. I have a very reliable copy of William Lindsey McDonald's genealogy of this family, but I am making a trip to this region this summer and could use any info on the area, places to see, cemetery directions, etc.
Gratefully,
Casey McDonald (descendant of Elias M. McDonald)

    McGEE - RICHARDSON
    From: Wendy Joyce Cabler
    Date: 18 Apr 2006
For all of you McGee researchers here in our county, please tell me if you can verify my recent find.  Jacob McGee (born circa 1776) and Elizabeth Richardson were the parents of William W. McGee born in 1815.  Does it seem right, then, that they were also the parents of Abraham, born in 1828, and Welcome, born in 1832?  They had numerous children and
I keep finding records that people have created that indicate that this is so.  If this is so, then Jacob, is indeed, the link between the Killen/Greenhill McGees and the Central McGees.  Please let me know if you can verify this information - eirinnaigne@comcast.net  Thanks!  Wendy Joyce Cabler

    PRICE - WHITSETT
    From: Price, Jerry L.
    Date: 21 May 2006
I found Wilson Whitsett and his family in the 1850 Lauderdale County, District One Census. Living with him was Benjamin Price, age 65 and Jane Eliza Price, age 63.  They lived quite near my ggg-grandmother Rachel Price. Her husband Martin A. Price disappeared between the 1840 and 1850 Census. I am trying to get a connection between Martin A. Price born 1799 in Kentucky and Benjamin Price born 1785 in Kentucky and living
close together in the 1850 census of Lauderdale County, AL. It seems too much to be a coincidence. I have more data on the Prices of KY-TN-AL and will be happy to share information.

Does anyone know of a school located in the Grassy Community of Lauderdale County, Al other than the one that is a now a church located on Hwy 64 east?  It is rumored that one existed in the late 1800's or early 1900's on a little branch that ran through the property.  Some of the people in the area were Hammonds,  and Shelton,.  If anyone knows, I would appreciate their information.  Thank you, J Inman.

    ALLINGTON - PRICE - COX - HARRISON - FOSTER - MASON - BAILEY - HILL
    From Joyce Metzger
    Date: 12 July 2006
Seeking any information on Thomas Taylor Allington and his daughter Mary Elizabeth Allington...I have photos of almost every ancestor from this generation and believe there MUST be a photograph of her somewhere among the Price descendents. Her daughter Louisa Isabella Price, known throughout her life as LUTIE BELLE PRICE married Jonathan Cox and moved west from Lauderdale County, Alabama. My mother their youngest child, Edith Montana Cox, was born in 1913 in Montana, and most of the family died in Idaho. My mother died when I was five and I lived a short while with grandparents Cox, and I remember huge boxes of clothes being shipped for family members from Missouri, believe from grandma's sister.  Other Lauderdale surnames: Harrison, Foster, Mason,  Bailey, Hill and Price. I am now 72 and attempting to write history of this huge extended family and would appreciate contact with any one working on these families. Joyce Metzger

    COLE
    From: Barbara Adams
    Date: 22 July 2006
My great great grandfather, Giles M. Cole was born in this county on 25 Dec 1825. He also served in the Mexican War. I am trying to find out who his parents were, although they were actually born in South Carolina (according to the census records). There were 3 other children born in Lauderdale County, to this Cole Family, Peggy Cole b. 04 Apr 1828, Mary Jane Cole b. 22 Feb 1829 and Christopher C. Cole b.16 Dec 1831. By the time the next child was born in 1933, they had moved to Illinois.
My dad was orphaned at the age of 4 (1916) and this has really been a tuff search for me. I have had no luck finding these folks on the Alabama Census Records and was hoping there might be some record in the Historical Society or Courthouse.
    Thanks, Barbara Cole Adams

    From: Barbara Moser
    Date: 21 Aug 2006
I am trying to locate a Bible belonging to James and Morning (Vawter) Robinson.  It was purchased by D.Killen at the estate sale of James Robinson in 1860.  I assume that this was Doctor Duncan Killen who was married to one of James'daughters,Lucinda Elizabeth ("Bettie") Robinson. If any of their descendants know of this Bible, please contact me.  I hope that it contains information of the parents/grandparents of James and Morning.

    From:Ron Wall
    Date: 31 Aug 2006
I found a William W. Whitsett in the Macedonia Cemetery (T1R13 Section 36)born May 11, 1838 and died Dec. 1910.  I need to know more about this information. My wife's g-great grandfather William Wallace Whitsett was born in 1838 in Lauderdale Co., son of Isaac and Elizabeth Wilson Whitsett. He was killed near Wright, Alabama probably about 1865. I have found no other William W. Whitsett in Lauderdale County with a birth date ca.1838 on any census or tax list.  Does anyone know anything about the William Whitsett buried in the Macedonia Cemetery?  Where did he come from? The birth date seems a strange coincidence. I know for a fact (well documented) that our William W. Whitsett died during he Civil War.  Thanks, Ron Wall
