A History of St. Florian Area Families, pub: Sep 2007, soft bound using Comb binding, abt. 230 pages, B&W, includes "every name" index, does not include source details.
The community of St. Florian, in Lauderdale County, Alabama, was founded in 1873 by German Catholic immigrants. These families, most of whom had earlier immigrated to the U.S. northeastern and midwestern states, moved to this area for various reasons, including cheap land. The area was formerly part of the Wilson cotton plantation. After the U.S. Civil War, the operation of such large farms was not profitable and the land was sold. This book concentrates on the history of the families who were in the area after 1872. The book covers the time period from about 1700 to 1925. It includes numerous photographs.Return to: Lauderdale County
