PETERS CEMETERY

To reach this cemetery, turn off AL 20 (Savannah Highway), onto Lauderdale 6 (Gunwaleford Road), go 4.0 miles; turn right on a farm road and go 0.4 mile. There is a hedgerow beside this road that goes all the way to the end. this is on the old Luther Whitten home place, and is in the back of where the old house used to be. It is in some trees, that surround an open field. There is 1 large monument there, about 10 feet tall, which can be seen at a distance. It has an old steel fence around it. Wilburn Whitten, who used to live there, said that as far as he knew there were only 2 people buried here, and they were white. This cemetery is on the F. M. Perry estate. The legal description is SE4, NW4, Sec 14, T3S, R12W.
