OWELL CEMETERY

To reach this cemetery, turn off AL 20 (Savannah Highway), onto Lauderdale 6 (Gunwaleford Road), go 9.8 miles. The cemetery is on the right side of the road. You must go through a small section of woods, and then across an open field to reach it. It is about 75 yards from the main road, and can be seen as soon as you get out of the woods. The Smithsonia Church of Christ is on the left side of the road, about 100 yards on down the road. The cemetery has a hand cut stone wall around it, which is about 4 feet tall, It is badly grown up with vines and small bushes. It is located on the F. M. Perry Estate. The legal description for the cemetery is SW4, NW4, Sec 13, T3 R13W.

E. who died on the 11th of Aug 1839, aged 46 years NOTE: The inscriptions for the CHEATHAM's was taken from a survey done by William Q. Hill several years ago. I could not find one of the graves, and could not read the other. One corner of this cemetery was so badly overgrown that I could not get to it.
