WASDEN CEMETERY

Surveyed by Orlan Irons - no date

To reach this cemetery, turn north off Cox Creek Parkway, onto Lauderdale 47, go 3.2 miles; turn right on Lauderdale 21, go 2.3 miles. There is a locked gate just below Falconhead that has 2 big posts with a brace across the top. There is a sign, Westmoreland Scout Reservation. Start at this gate and walk down this road (west) for 152 yards. Turn left (north) and walk 430 yards. There is a trail here. After you walk 430-450 yards, to your right you should see several very large oak trees. One stone, about 5 feet tall, is about 30 feet from the trail, and is easily seen in the fall. There are 20 to 30 or more unmarked graves. Bert Lamar, who lives nearby, said that there used to be more stones here, but we only found three. Some may have fallen over and been covered with leaves. This cemetery is shown on the 1987 Lauderdale County Highway Map, but no name is listed. The legal description for the cemetery is SW4, SE4, Sec 10, T1S, R10W.
