LAUDERDALE COUNTY, ALABAMA
CEMETERIES - TOWNSHIP 1, RANGE 10
WATKINS CEMETERY
(also known as the Curtis Cemetery)
Surveyed by Orlan Irons, 6 Dec 1990
To reach this cemetery from Florence, take Cox Creek Parkway and turn north onto Lauderdale 47; go 2.7 miles and turn left on Lauderdale 61 (Butler Creek Road); go 4.0 miles to the cemetery. The cemetery is on the right side of the road. There is a gravel road you turn off on, and there is a gate there. The cemetery is about 35 years from the paved road. It is grown up very badly, and there are some old cedar trees in the cemetery. The cemetery is not very large, but there are probably 6 to 8 unmarked graves. The cemetery is shown on the 1987 Lauderdale County Highway Map, but no name is given. The Watkins owned the land and the old house near the cemetery. The legal description is SW4, SE4, Sec 30, T1S, R10W.
