WILSON CEMETERY

Surveyed by Orlan Irons - 20 Feb 1990

To reach this cemetery from Florence, take Cox Creek Parkway and turn north onto Lauderdale 47. Go 1.2 miles and turn right on a gravel road; go only 0.2 mile and turn right again on this same road; go 0.3 mile or until you come to an old house and tool sheds. Park here and walk from behind the house (south) 300 yards to get to the cemetery. The cemetery has a large brick wall around it, with several trees on the inside, and can be seen from the back of the old house. There are probably about 4 markers that could be read if they were put together, or turned over that I did not list. More than half of the markers are broken up pretty badly. Joe ECKL said they were that way when he and his brother purchased the land. Mr. ECKL tries to take care of this cemetery as best that he can. The cemetery is shown on the 1987 Lauderdale County Highway Map, but the exact location is not shown (only the name is on the map). The exact location is shown on some older maps. The legal description is SW4, NE4, Sec 30, T2s, R10w.
