Kitchen To Kitchen Deed of Gift

Know all men by these presents that I Boaz Kitchen of the County of Lauderdale and State of Alabama, for and in Consideration of my natural love and affection for my Children Susan Ann Kitchen, John L. Kitchen, Arrabella Fassaraer? Kitchen Levi S. Kitchen Sarah Elizabeth Penelope Kitchen William Kitchen and Nancy Priscella Kitchen and the Sum of five Dollars to me in hand paid by the Said Susan Ann the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have hereby given granted and Conveyed and by these presents do hereby give grant and Convey unto The said Susan Ann the following negro Slaves to wit Mary a woman aged about thirty years and her three Children to wit Ellie aged about Eight years old Rhoda Two years old and an infant and Shadrick a man aged Twenty and a woman named Malinda aged Twenty years, and a boy named Jackson Two years old, and a boy named Sandy a year old. To Have and To Hold the said negro Slaves with their increase to the Said Susan Ann, her Executors administrators and assigns upon Trust nevertheless? and upon these Express Conditions (to wit) that the Said Susan Ann Shall hold the Same for the use and benefit of me the Said Boaz, and my wife Arabella during our lives and the life of the Survivor and at the death of the Survivor being either myself or my Said wife, then the Said Susan Ann Shall by deed Convey to each of My Children herein Named an equal Share of Said Negroes including all Children which my wife and myself may have born after the execution of this Deed the increase of Said Negroes as well as those herein specified and that the Said Susan Ann to retain an equal interest in the same as her own property In testimony whereof I have hereunto Set My hand and Seal this 28th of October 1840

The State of Alabama} Personally appeared before
Lauderdale County    } me Wiley T. Hawkins Clerk of the
County Court of the County & State aforesaid the above named Boaz Kitchen the granter [sic] and acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the foregoing deed to Susan Ann Kichen [sic] on the day it bears date for all the purposes therein

Supplement To The Above Deed ---
And be it Known that for the consideration aforesaid I the said Boaz Kitchen do hereby relinquish Transfer, and Set over all and Singular the lands tenements heridatements and all the personal property which has been or may be devised to me or my said wife Arabella by the will of her father Moses Smith of North Carolina to my Said Daughter Susan Ann to hold in trust for the same uses and purposes as aforesaid and at the death of my wife to be by her distributed to My children & herself as is herein before provided In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this the 30th of October 1840                                                         Boaz Kitchen {SEAL}

Hawkins Clerk of the County Court of the County & State aforesaid Boaz Kitchen and acknowledged that he signed sealed and delivered the above supplemental deed Susy Ann Kitchen on the day it bears date for all the purposes therein contained & expressed Given under my hand & Seal at office the 30th day of October, 1840 W.
