Program of the Procession.
The different Orders who design assisting in the ceremonies of laying the
Corner-Stones of LaGrange College and the Florence Female Synodical Institute,
on the 2d of June next, are requested to assemble at their different halls at 9
o’clock, A. M. The procession will be formed at 9 o’clock under the direction of
Wm. B. Woods [sic], Esq., Chief Marshall.
COL. T. F. PETTUS, Marshall of Masons,
G. W. KARSNER, Marshall of Odd Fellows.
JAS. L. SLOSS, Marshall of Sons of Temperance,
ROB’T STEWART, Marshall of Students of College,
J. B. PATTON, Marshall of Faculty of Students of Synodical Institute.
C. GOOKIN, Marshall of Citizens generally.
The Masonic bodies will be formed in line on Tennessee Street west of Court
street. The Odd Fellows on the west side of Court Street, in front of the Court
House. The Sons of Temperance on the east side of Court Street, their right at
Asher’s Corner. The Commissioners, Trustees, Faculty and Students of the College
on the west side of Court Street, their right at Kirkman’s Corner. The Trustees,
Faculty and Students of the Synodical Institute will be formed at the Institute.
The following order will be observed.
1st Chief Marshall.
2nd Florence Brass Band.
3rd Sons of Temperance.
4th Odd Fellows.
5th. Commissioners, Trustees Faculty and Students of LaGrange College.
6th Trustees, Faculty and Students of the Synodical Institute.
7th Citizens generally.
8th Masons.
9th Orators and officiating Clergy.
10th The Grand Lodge.
The procession will move up Tennessee Street to Seminary Street, then up
Seminary Street to the Methodist Church, then along Mobile Street to the College
Grounds. Returning, the procession will move down Market Street, the Military
road and Seminary Street to the Institute, and after the ceremonies of the day
will again form and proceed to their respective Halls.
