RIVER TRAVEL
Tennessee River & Railroad Guide
Submitted by Edgar D. Byler, III
This booklet, measuring 3 inches wide by 61/2 inches tall, appears to have been published sometime before 1900. It was in a box of papers that my cousin bought at the Lay estate sale in Clifton several years ago and apparently belonged to Jno. L. Greeson, who was Sheriff of Wayne County about the turn of the 20th century. It gives every landing on the Tennessee River between Paducah and Florence and the distance of that landing by river from Cairo, Illinois.
The front cover is printed with an ad for De Baun's Saloon and Restaurant, 415 Ohio Levee, Cairo, Ills. Furnished rooms for gentlemen. The back cover carries an ad for A. T. De Baun's Restaurant and Oyster House, 415 Ohio Levee, Cairo, Illinois "Look for red light"
