My name is Carolyn Golowka and I am the coordinator for Lowndes County. I have many ties to Lowndes as several of my ancestors helped to settle the county before it was a county. Feel free to contact me if you can help add information to this site or have any comments or if a link is broken. I don't live in Alabama, so I can't do look-ups except as listed in the look-ups section.
Lowndes County was formed in 1830 from land taken from Butler, Dallas, and Montgomery, Pike & Wilcox counties. The county seat is located at Hayneville. The surrounding counties are Autauga, Butler, Crenshaw, Dallas, and Montgomery.
Look under Announcements, Events & Reunions for ever changing information. This also includes information on any DNA studies regarding families from Lowndes County.
We look forward to meeting you!
