John Victor Davis and Julia Parker Knight
Julia Parker Knight, the second daughter of Allen and Mary (Polly) Foreman Knight was born 3 May 1805 in Chester County, S.C. She married John Victor Davis, b. 26 September 1801, the 10th July 1823 in Montgomery County, Alabama. He was the son of Ishmael Davis and wife, Rebecca.
Allen Knight died in Lowndes Co. in 1839. Mary Polly Knight left will in Montgomery Co.
Julia and her husband lived in Montgomery County, Alabama all their married lives and were still living on the 1870 census. Julia died the 6 June 1876 and John V. d. 10 May 1871.
They are buried in Prospect Cemetery about 28 miles from Montgomery , Alabama , one fourth mile from Naftel Station.
At least one of their sons apparently came to Henderson County, Texas when the Owen -Knight families came or soon after. That was Simeon Derolle Lafayette Davis who married Sarah Emmanitus Owen Brown and was on the 1860 census. After the Civil War several more of the sons came. A letter exists in the files the Henderson County Historical Commission from John V. Davis to his sons in Henderson County, describing the hard times that existed in Alabama at that time-1869. John V. Davis died 10 May 1871; Julia Parker died 17 Dec. 1876. The children of Julia Parker Knight Davis and John V. Davis:
i. Mary Rebecca Davis b. 13 March 1824 Montgomery Co. Ala. married Anson Hiram Courtney. They are buried at Ebenezer Cemetery in Ramer , Al.
ii. Simeon Derolle Washington Lafayette Davis b. 24 August 1825 Mont. Co., Ala.; m. ca. 1855 Sarah Emmanitus Owen Brown, daughter of Samuel Tine Owen and widow of John Wesley Brown.; d. ca. 1867 Henderson County, TX.
iii. William Dewitt Clinton Davis b. 5 Feb 1827 Mont. Co., Ala. came to TX. 1866, never married; died 4 Feb. 1894; buried Owen Cemetery, Athens, TX. Was county treasurer of Henderson County about 20 years.
iv. Elizabeth Eliminer Davis b. 19 June 1828 Mont. Co., Ala.; died 21 June 1858.
v. Thomas Jefferson Davis b. 14 April 1830 Mont. Co., Ala d. 7 June 1893.
vi. James Anderson Monroe Davis b. 9 October 1832 Montgomery m. Elizabeth Hopper 13 October 1868. Lived in Balinger, TX.
vii. John Whitaker Davis b. 28 Nov. 1834 Mont. Co., Ala.;
viii. Elizabeth Victor Davis b. 4 Feb 1837 Mont. Co. Ala.; d. at 18 months. 29 August 1838.
ix. Nubel Jackson Davis b. 16 Dec. 1839 Mont. Co. Ala.; was a doctor.
x. Louisa J. Davis b. ca. 1841 ;on 1870 Mont. Co., Al. census as Louisa J. Boyd in HH of her parents.
xi. Saul C. Davis b. ca. 1843; came to Henderson County, Texas.
xii. William T. Davis b. ca. 1848 Mont. Co., Al, m. Celina E. Smith, dau. of William K. Smith August 11, 1870 Henderson County, TX. Their daughter, Nubel Toledo Davis, m. Stephen Cager Miller, a grandson of Stephen Bradley. They are the ancestors of Gennette Miller Henson.
xiii. Gustavius Davis b. ca. 1848 on Mont. Co. Al census age 12 1860.
