Obituary: Decatur Daily, August 17, 1932
MRS. J. A. THRASHER, aged 34 years, beloved local resident, died last night at
8:15 p.m. at her home on Fifth Avenue South, after an illness of two years. Mrs.
Thrasher had been confined to her bed for the past two months.
Mrs. Thrasher was a member of the Eastern Star in Athens and had scores of
friends in both Morgan and Limestone Counties to whom news of her death will
come as a profound shock.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon at two o'clock at the
residence, by Rev. J. D. Pickens and Rev. C. M. Tyndall, the funeral cortege
then moving to Bethel Cemetery, near Hartselle, where concluding services will
be conducted at the grave by Rev. J. H. Hill and Rev. Tyndall. Interment will be
made there, Peck directing.
Mrs. Thrasher is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. J. W. McCracken of
Athens; one brother, Homer Lynn of Little Rock.
NOTE: Year of death is listed as 1931 on the tombstone but the obituary was in
1932 newspaper.
