Funeral for Edward Ottis Grantland, 85, of Hartselle, was Friday, Feb 1, at 11
am at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Revs Kathryne Perkins and Vandon
Windsor officiating.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mr Grantland died Wednesday, Jan. 30, at his residence. He was a member of the
Antioch United Methodist Church. He was employed for the Morgan Farmers Co-Op
Inc. for 32 years where he retired as a manager. In his younger years, he drove
a peddler truck for Skidmore's Grocery. In the late 30's, he was a guitarist and
sang for the W.M.S.L. Sterchi's Band. He was the widower of Francis "Frankie"
Johnson Grantland and the brother of the late Thomas Wayne Grantland.
He is survived by three sons, Jerry Grantland of Somerville and Gary Grantland
and Ronald Grantland, both of Hartselle; one brother, Hollis Grantland of
Hartselle; two sisters, Betty Knighten of Somerville; and Vera Nell Ramey of
Hartselle; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Darby Grantland, Jay Grantland, Joby Grantland, Landon
Grantland, Loren Grantland, Jerred Lawson and Mark Sutton.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Decatur, AL.
