DEATH CLAIMS U. Y. GLASSCOCK
Hartselle Resident is Mourned by Friends
U. Y. Glasscock, 67, died Friday, June 16 at 4:15 a.m. at the home of his son,
Van B. Glasscock, following a year of illness.
He was a plumber and a retired contractor and although a native of Cullman, he
had been a resident of Hartselle for 40 years.
Mr. Glasscock was a highly esteemed citizen and respected throughout Morgan
County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Knights of Pythias.
Born in Cullman County, December 2, 1882, he was the son of Gregory Glasscock.
He later came to Hartselle where he married Mary Vinsant in 1912. He attended
Cullman and Morgan County schools.
Mrs. Mary Glasscock passed away in 1923 and he remarried, June 1, 1925, to Mrs.
Cillia Quinn, Hartselle. One daughter, Cillia Virginia, was born to this union.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in
Hartselle. The Rev. Carl B. Allen conducted the rites and the choir sang, "No
Tears in Heaven." Mrs. Charlels Taul sang a solo, "Sunrise Tomorrow."
He was buried in Bethel Cemetery in Hartselle, Mutual Service directing.
Pallbearers were B. G. Hall, DeWitt Gatlin, C. Y. Quinn, J. P. Simpson, Marvin
Broom and Jack Stone, all of Hartselle.
Mr. Glasscock is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Charles Bailey, Hartselle; two
sons, Van B. Glasscock and Victor Glasscock, both of Hartselle; two sisters,
Mrs. C. H. Roan and Mrs. George Mitchell, both of Hartselle; four brothers, Acey
Glasscock, Decatur, Arthur Glasscock, Cullman, T. B. Glasscock, Eva, Julius
Glasscock, Hartselle; and four grandchildren.
