WALTER M. GRIFFITH
Funeral for Walter M. Griffith, 83, Decatur 4, who died Monday in a Hartselle
Hospital, will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, Revs. Hugh
Compton, J. T. Copeland and Carl Smallwood officiating, with burial in the
adjoining cemetery, Peck Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs Sue Collier Griffith, Decatur; three sons,
Arthur Griffith, Omaha, Neb., Leon Griffith, Hartselle; Edward Griffith,
Somerville; four daughters, Mrs Pearl Depreast, Mrs Polly Callahan, Mrs Mary
Foster and Mrs Marie Woods, all of Hartselle; two sisters, Mrs Laura Engle,
Decatur, Miss Ruth Griffith, Flint; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Maurice Griffith, Wayne Griffith, Wendell
Callahan, Billy Foster, Martin Depreast and Lonnie Wood. Honorary pallbearers
will be W. O. Terry, J. E. Stone, Percy Sharp, Frank Collier, Sherrill Tapscott,
Leroy Griffith, Benford McGee and Henry Griffith.
The body will remain at the funeral home until time for the service.
Mr Griffith was a charter member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church. He
was a member of the Carpenters Local, 1274.
