OLD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY
William Copeland Howell, aged 77 years, a native of this county, passed away
this morning at eight o'clock at his home at 1003 Jackson street. Mr Howell had
been in ill health for sometime and his condition was aggravated sometime ago
when he fell.
The funeral cortege will leave the residence at 1:30 p.m. Sunday and services
will be conducted at Bethel church, near Hartselle, at three o'clock. Rev Frank
T. Smith of Hartselle, will conduct the service, assisted by Rev C. L. Cobbs.
Interment will be made at Bethel, Brown directing.
The deceased is survived by his wife; two nieces, Miss Mary Howell of Birmingham
and Miss Edna Gray of Hillsboro. One nephew, Richard Howell, of Birmingham.
Active pallbearers will be: D. D. Gibson,John Green, Arthur Garnet, J. W.
Pipkin, C. L. Buck and J. W. McCall. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of
the W. R. Spight Bible class.
Mr Howell had been a member of the Central Baptist Church for twenty-seven
years. He was a member of the J. O. U. A. M. and the I. O. O. F. He was formerly
employed with the Louisville & Nashville railway.
