Funeral services for Gurley McGee Johnson, 73, 1224 Grant St. SE, who died
Wednesday at a Hartselle hospital, were to be 2 p.m. today at Johnson Chapel
Methodist Church with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. James I. Self will
officiate. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Madgie Johnson; daughter, Mrs.
Robert Woodall, Decatur; sons, Elmer Johnson, Cleo Johnson, both of Danville,
Herman Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Hollis Johnson, all of Decatur; mother, Mrs. G.W.
Johnson, Danville; brothers, Homer Johnson, Falkville, Kyle Johnson, Hartselle,
Gill Johnson, Willie Johnson both of Decatur; sisters, Mrs. Ellis Brown, Mrs.
Truman Lindsey, both of Danville; 14 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Moulton Heights Baptist Church. Active pallbearers will be
Arville McKee, Alfred White, Hoyt Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Raymond Johnson and
Waymond Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Blackwell, Harvey Hampton, Ben
Lentz, W.M. Gobble, Knox McRae and Homer F. Shelton. Funeral arrangements by
