TUNSTILL
Connie Plemons

I am searching for ancestery from Morgan County, Alabama. I have listed James Tunstill married to Iscehina in the 24 June 1870 census #51 Subdfivision #37 Morgan Co., Alabama they have children Mary J., James R., Houston, John L, meliam T.,m Buchannan, Elizabeth, Edward, & Lori B.
All born Alabama.
This same family is listeed on 1880, and 188060 but they are listed with wife Elizabeth H. or just Elizabeth. I also have James Tunstill spouse Icephena Hawk from a book called Hunting for Bears Alabama Marriages 1800-1969. Then from  Us International Marriages 1570-1900 Elizabeth Hawk is married to James Tunstill.
I am trying to establish if this Icephena Hawk and Elizabeth Hawk are the same person and if so was she an Indian? They are llisted with several Black families on numersous census and with whites on another. So she may have been lliving after the civil war along with the black population because of her Indian heritage????

I need help and any help that you may be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Gandy
Bob Copeland

I am looking to find the first name of a GANDY.  James R. Gandy (my GGrandfather) was born 1824 in Morgan County.  He later moved to Benton County, TN.  James R Gandy's mother was Elizabeth Arnold (she came from GA). James R's father was named Gandy.  However, we cannot determine this Gandy's first name.  I would like to confirm his first name.  Thank you!

Baker
joyce

I am seeking the family of my great grandmother,Mary Baker, born in 1855 in Morgan County, Alabama.

When she was 18, she ran away from home with my great grandfather Asa D. Smith. In May of 1873 my grandfather was born in Somerville, Alabama. I have a copy of Mary's application for Asa's civil war pension (31st IL Infantry, Co. B). I'll paraphrase some of the application

"She can't furnish any further evidence as her brothers and others will not make her any affidavit of any kind....She ran away from Morgan County, AL with Mr. Asa D. Smith and got married to him in the State of IL...as the record will show the feelings were very bad between her brothers and Mr. Smith ...they (her brothers) followed  and attempted to kill Mr. Smith several times...they gave them the dodge in Tennessee".

On her marriage certificate she lists her father's name as William Baker. I've seen her middle name as Caroline, but I've also seen an "L" and an "H" listed as her middle initial.
If this sounds familiar to any Baker ancestor, please contact me. I would love to verify where Mary's family is.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

However, have been unable to pin down place of birth, mother's name, father's
