p 52 - "Blassingame was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on May 28, the son of Gen. John and Elizabeth Nancy (Easley) Blassingame, the former a private in the Revolution and a soldier in the War of 1812.
"In 1817, William E. Blassingame graduated from South Carolina College; he moved to Perry Couny in 1830.
" A founder of the Marion Female Seminary and of Judson College, he served for one session as a state senator, 1838-9 in the AL Legislature.
"Blassingame married Eliza P. Townes and they had 6 children. He died in Marion in 1841.
