He and his brother, Woodson Cocke, moved to Marion prior to 1840, and established Cocke's Hotel (also referred to as 'Cocke's Tavern'. After a few years in business, Jack F. Cocke left the hotel business in order to devote his full attention to his plantation, located on Hamburg Road....
