John Edwards

pp37-8 - "John Edwards was born in Culpepper County, VA on August 12, 1752 and died in 1834, and is buried in Martin Cemetery.
"In the fall of 1777 or -78, he enlisted as a private in the NC Militia...in Franklin Co., NC. During his 18 months of service he marched from NC... to SC... to GA....
"After discharge, he resided in Culpepper Co., for several years, then moved to Wilkes Co GA.

"Edwards registered for 160 acres of land in Perry Co. on January 24, 1820. His plantation was located just east of the Cahaba River near the present-day community of Radford. He owned 30 slaves in 1830.

"His will was signed in Perry Co. on November 29, 1828, listing a wife, Susanah, sons William Reuben, John and James, and daughters Sally Bennett, Betsey Philips, Susanah Johnson and Tabitha Aycock." [end Harris quotes]
