Benjamin Franklin Perry and Sarah Jane Taylor of Perry County, Alabama
Benjamin F. Perry was born May 12, 1826 in Perry Co., Al. He was the son of Britton and Mary Dennis Perry. Benjamin died June 16, 1863. I have not been able to document his unit in the Civil War. Benjamin married Sarah Jane Taylor on June 22, 1846 in Dallas County, Alabama. She was the daughter of Pleasant Taylor and wife unknown.
Benjamin and Sarah were found in the 1850 census for Oak Grove Beat in Perry County, and in the 1860 census for Heards Beat, Perry County. Benjamin was missing in the 1870 Census. Sarah was listed with three of their children in the 1870 Heards Beat Census and in 1880 she was missing from the census, so I assume she died before 1880.
Benjamin and Sarah had the following children: (1) Eliza J. Perry was born abt. 1848. I have not been able to find her since the 1860 Perry County Census.(2) Mary Angeline Perry was born October 25, 1849; died February 6, 1899. She married Samuel Lovelady on January 16, 1870. In the Perry County marriage records she is listed as Salina Perry.
(3) Loamie Jasper “L. J”. Perry was born September 24, 1858 in Perry County; died on March 25, 1933 in Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama. He married Mary Frances “Fannie” Wiley on January 17, 1882 in Dallas County, Alabama. They are buried in the Maplesville Cemetery in Maplesville, Chilton County, Alabama. Fannie was the daughter of Francis “Jasper” Wiley and Priscilla Ann Elizabeth Parker, daughter of Richard Parker and Frances Little. (4) Odecie or Delia Perry was born about 1861 in Perry County, Alabama. I have not been able to find her since the 1880 census. She was living with her brother, L. J. (In the 1870 census she was listed as Delia and in 1880 as Odecie). (5) George Ellis Perry was born December 11, 1862; died February 28, 1943 in Biloxi, Ms.
He married Sophia Patterson on November 28, 1886 in Perry County. They are buried in the Biloxi Cemetery, Biloxi, Ms. She was the daughter of John and Nancy Patterson of Perry County.
