Marion Walker Jones was born August 30, 1838 near Calera in Shelby County
Alabama. He was the son of Jordan Jones, who moved from Elbert County Georgia to
Shelby County Alabama and his second wife, Lucy Nix. He married September 8,
1861 to Miss Euphamy Josephine Foust, born August 15, 1842, daughter of Rev.
Miles G. Foust, a Methodist Minister, and a sister of Rev. W.E. Foust.
He moved with his family to Birmingham in 1887, establishing a residence in
East Lake (in Jefferson County Alabama). Mrs. Jones died November 1, 1908 and
Rev. Marion W. Jones died March 27, 1910, both are buried in East Lake.

6. Sam Emerson Jones ~ 24 October 1878, 9 October 1929; married
24 October 1899 to Louise Theresa Meserole.

Rev. Marion W. Jones was a local Methodist Preacher. He first preached on
Apri1 14, 1878 at Camp Branch (in Shelby County Alabama) and his last known
sermon was preached on August 15, 1909 in North Birmingham (in Jefferson County
Alabama). He kept a small 5x7 red-backed book, marked Ledger, and
at last account in 1979 it was owned by Mrs. H.C. (Theresa Aldridge) Baker from
Calera, Alabama, a granddaughter of Rev. Jones.
He listed ninety-four marriages with dates, in his ledger, beginning in
December 1880 when he married Dr. William Armstrong and Mrs. Joe McCon at Camp
Branch. The following list has been arranged to list the Groom
