ASHVILLE, ALABAMA

MARKER BY THE GRAVE STONE COVERS:

THESE COVERS ORIGINALLY MARKED THE GRAVES IN
LIBERTY CEMETERY AT ODENVILLE, ALA. ARE LOCATED
HERE TO HONOR JOHN ASH FOR WHOM ASHVILLE WAS
NAMED.

WAS BORN NOV 30, 1783
DIED APRIL 1ST, 1872
AGED 88 YEARS 4 MONTHS AND 1 DAY

WILST IN THIS TOMB OUR FATHER LIES HIS SPIRIT
RESTS ABOVE IN REALMS OF BLISS IT NEVER DIES
BUT KNOWS A SAVIOR'S LOVE BEHOLD GOD'S MY
SALVATION: I WILL TRUST AND NOT BE AFRAID

COUSOURT OF JOHN ASH

AGED 59 YRS 8 MONTHS AND 7 DAYS

THOU KNOWEST NO PAIN OR SORROW NOW,
THE JOYS OF HEAVEN ILLUME THY BROW;
----BREAK IN STONE-----------------
HAPPY AND BLESSED ARE THE DEAD.

FLAT STONE MARKERS SET FLUSH IN THE
GROUND. CRACK IN STONE FROM MARGARET'S
GRAVE REPAIRED WITH SILICONE CAULKING
COMPOUND.  --WHY REMOVING THESE ORIGINAL
MARKERS FROM LIBERTY CEMETERY AND
RELOCATING THEM IN DOWNTOWN ASHVILLE
IS A HONOR TO JOHN & MARGARET, IS A
MYSTERY TO ME.  THERE ARE NO REMAINS
BENEATH THEM --AND PEOPLE VISITING
LIBERTY CEMETERY WILL NOT SEE
THESES ORIGINAL MARKERS.
