This Indenture made the 16th day of December A.D. 1850 Between James W Staples of Wilcox County Ala & Margaret Elizabeth his wife of the first part and Elizabeth Staples widow & Wief(?) of James Staples deceased of same County & State witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold aliened released enfeoffed & conveyed & by the presents do grant bargain sell alien release enfeoff & convey unto the said party of the second part her heirs & assigns forever all the undivided interest which the said James W Staples ever had now has, or can have in the lands belonging to the estate of James Staples his father late of said County deceased and which said lands have descended to the heirs assigns of said James Staples dec’d. & is now in the occupancy & possession of the widow & children of said Elizabeth of the said Staples deceased said lands are situated lying & being in the County of Wilcox aforesaid & are known & recorded as follows to wit The North west quarter of the South East quarter of section 24 Township 11 & Range 10 & containing about forty 29/100 acres The South west quarter of the south west quarter Section 19 Township 11 and Range 11 contg. thirty nine 88/100 acres the East ½ of the South East quarter of Section 24 Township 11 Range 10 containing eighty 39/100 acres the East half of the South east quarter Section 19 Township 11 Range 11 containing Twenty nine & 66/100 acres and the north west quarter of the South west quarter Section 19 Township 11 R 11 containing thirty nine 30/100 acres be the said several quantities more or less and the said parcel or (???) of land above described correctly described or not it being distinctly understood & agreed by the parties to this conveyance that it is intended to embrace all the interest of the said James W., Staples in the land lying in Wilcox County of which his father died seized & possessed or in any wise entitled with all the privileges and appertenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the afore granted premises to wit the (???) (???) interest in the lands aforesaid of the said James W. Staples together with all the estate right title interest claim and demand of the said James W Staples therein as well as the dower & right of dower of the said Margaret Elizabeth in the same by reason of her intermarr iage with the said James W Staples to the said party of the second part her heirs & assigns forever & I the same James W Staples for myself & my heirs executors or admr’s do covenant with the said Elizabeth Staples & her heirs and assigns that I lawfully seized in fee of the aforegranted premises that they are free from all incumbrances done or suffered by me that I have good right to sell and convey the land to the said Elizabeth as aforesaid and that I will & my heirs executors administrators shall warrant & defend the same to said Elizabeth and her heirs & assigns forever against the lawful claim & demand of all persons. In witness whereof we, the said party of the first part have hereunto set our hands & seal the day and year having first above (???)

Personally appeared before me J.J. Lewis Esquire and acting Justice of the Peace for Wilcox County the within named James W Staples & Margaret Elizabeth his wife who acknowledged before me that they signed sealed & delivered the foregoing deed on the day & year therein mentioned to the aforesaid Elizabeth Staples & the said Margaret Elizabeth wife of the said James W Staples (crossed out: said the said Margaret Elizabeth) on a private examination apart from her said husband acknowledged to me that she signed sealed & delivered the within deed as her voluntary act & did freely without any fear threat or compunction of her husband Given under my hand & seal this 16 day of December 1850
