pp72-73 - "The Rev. Charles Crow, who was born in South Carolina about 1770, had been ordained into the ministry on August 30, 1807 and had served in his home state as the pastor of the Bush River Church in Newberry.
"He came to Alabama in 1819 and first made an official claim for lands (Early Settlers)in Perry County on November 15, 1820
"Crow was the leader in the Cahawba [sic] Association, and served at Oakmulgee Church until July, 1821, when he asked the deacons to release him from his position. He and William Calloway then founded the Siloam Baptist Church in Marion in June, 1822, and Crow served as its first pastor.
"In 1829, he and his family once again joined the Oakmulgee Church, where he again became the minister, while operating a plantation in the vicinity with 12 slaves. He died on June 12, 1845, and was laid to rest in the Oakmulgee Church cemetery.
