Deason, of Eoline, died at his home there Tuesday. Mr. Deason started the publication of the Eoline Messenger some time ago, but his failing health caused him to give it up and go west. It seems as if he returned home to die after having gotten no benefit from his trip. He has a brother, James Deason, at this place. He leaves a family all of whom have the deepest sympathy.
Deason, Mary Catherine, Dec 27, 1923 - Apr 29, 2004 [daughter of William Brady Murphy Sr. and Dora Sovella Deason Murphy] Obit: Mary Catherine Deason, died April 29, 2004, at Bibb County Nursing Home. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Little Hope Cemetery on May 1, 2004. Catherine was preceded in death by her spouse, George Deason, brother, W. B. Murphy, and parents, William Brady Murphy and Dora Murphy of Centreville. Survivors, include one daughter, one son, three brothers, and one grandson.

Deason, Nancy, Jan 3, 1807 - Mar 18, 1893 [Dau of Stephen Caudle] By request of our dear old father we announce the death of our dear mother who departed this life near Slick, Bibb Co., Ala., March 18, 1893. She was born in Lancaster Co., S. C., Jan. 1807 and was the Dau of Stephen Caudle, Sr. While she was very young Grandfather Caudle moved to North Carolina, near Saulsbury. Not being satisfied, they moved back to their former home, where she lived until she and my father, Wiley Deason, who is yet a survivor of the grave, were married. They moved to Monroe Co., Ala., then to Butler Co., where she united with the Primitive Baptist church, at Sweetwater, about the year 1836 or 1837, and, I think, was baptized by one of the Geeters. She lived a consistent member until 1843, when they moved to Bibb Co., Ala., where she remained until her death. After she moved to Bibb county, she and father, being overpersuaded, put their letters with the Missionary Baptists, but they never were satisfied while with them. She afterward went into the organization of the Primitive Baptist church at Little Hope, where she remained a devoted member until the Lord saw fit to call her home. She was the mother of nine children--six girls and three boys. Two girls and two boys have long since been laid in the silent grave. She leaves a heart-stricken husband, now in his 86th year, five children, and many grandchildren to mourn their loss. Mother had been afflicted for many years. For some time before she died her mind was considerably shattered, insomuch that she did not know her own children. For several weeks before her death she was helpless. Her remains were laid away in the cemetery near Little Hope meeting-house March 19. Eld. Hubbard, a relative of hers, gave a beautiful talk full of comfort and consolation to her bereaved husband, children, and many friends. Dear mother lived to see all her children now living unite with the Primitive Baptist church. One of her grandsons, J. D. McElroy, is an ordained minister, and is the pastor of the church at Little Hope, where her membership was. Dear mother is gone; but her memory still lives in the hearts of those dear ones that she left behind. May God be pleased to pour out his most choice blessings on the bereaved family until they shall be reunited beyond the shores of time.
Deason, Wiley, Feb 8, 1807 - Sep 6, 1901, [Son of Edmond and Hester Deason of Lancaster Co, SC] The following is a quote from The Orphan's Travails by Jacob D. McElroy: Conducting the funeral services of dear old grandfather and grandmother Deason was one of the tenderest undertakings of my life. Old grandmother died first. A short time before she died she reached out her hand to old grandfather. He took it, but it seemed that it was more than he could bear. The last time that old grandfather ever attended meeting at Little Hope, at the close of the services he extended the parting hand to me and several others. I believe that he felt then that he would never attend another meeting at Little Hope. The next time I saw him in Little Hope Meeting House he was in his coffin.
