William Muckleroy

William Muckleroy/Muckelroy served as a private in the company commanded by Capt. Giles Burdet, Second Regiment of the TN Volunteers Commanded by Gen. Coffee during the War of 1812.

Certificate of Identify and Oath of Service.

County of Tuskaloosa

On this 15th day of October A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty, personally appeared before me, John J. Samuel, a Justice of the Peace duly authorised to administer oaths within and for the County and State aforesaid, William Muckelroy aged eighty-six years, a resident of Tuskaloosa County in the State of Alabama who being duly sworn according to law, declares that, he is the identical William Muckelroy who was a private in the Company commanded by Captian Giles Burdett in the Tennessee Regiment of Volunteers commanded by Col. Williamson in the war with Great Brittain, declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 that he volunteered, in Bedford County, Tennessee, and was mustered at Fayetteville Tenn. On or about the Twenty-eighth day of September A.D. eighteen hundred fourteen for the term of six months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of Seven months and was honorably discharged at Nashville Tenn. On the twenty-eighth day of April A.D. eighteen hundred & fifteen, on account of expiration of term of service as will appear by (he having sold his discharge) the muster rolls of said company.

He makes this declaration for the purpose of obtaining the Bounty land to which he may be entitled under the "act granting County land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States," passed September 28, 1850.

Know all men by these presents, That I William Muckelroy of Tuskaloosa County State aforesaid do hereby irrevocably make, constitute and appoint S. J. Bowen of the City of Washington, my true and lawful Attorney, for me and in my name, to demand and receive from the Department of the Interior of the United States, the Certificate or Warrant, to which I am entitled for my Military services, as mentioned in the foregoing declaration.

Hereby revoking all Powers of Attorney or other authority that may have been heretofore given by me for said purpose.

It appears from documents on file in this Office, that William Muckleroy, a Private of Captain Giles Burdett's Campaign of Kentucky Militia, entered the service on the 28th September 1814 and served till the 27th April 1815.

Skinner a Justice of the Peace in and for the State and County afforesaid personally appeared William Muckelroy who being duly sworn, deposes and says that he is the identical William Muckelroy to whom warrant No. 905 for Eighty acres under the acts of September 1850, was issued on the 10th day of February 1851 and who now applys to locate the same.

We hereby certify, that the attached Military Bounty Land Warrant, No. 905 was on this day received at this office, from William Muckelroy, of Tuscaloosa county, State of Alabama.

I, William Muckelroy, of Tuscaloosa county, State of Alabama hereby apply to locate and do locate the East half of the North East quarter of Section No. twenty one in Township No. twenty three of Range no. Six East in the District of Lands subject to sale at the Land Office at Tuscaloosa Ala containing Eighty 37/100 acres, in satisfaction of the attached Warrant numbered 905 issued under the act of 28 September, 1850.

On this 26th day of July AD one thousand Eight hundred and fifty five personally appeared before me D M James a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid Kisziah Muccleray aged Eighty years a resident of Bibb County in the State of Alabama who being duly Sworn according to law declares that She is the Widow of William Muccleray deceased who was a private in the Company Commanded by Captain Giles Burdet in the Second Regiment of the Tennessee Volunteers Commanded by General Coffee in the war with Great Britain declared by the United States on the 18th day of June 1812 that her said husband Volunteered at Shelbyville on or about the 28th day of September 1814 for the term of Six months and continued in actual Service in Said War for the term Seven months and was honorably discharged at Nashville Tennessee on or about the 28th day of April AD 1815. She further States that she was married to the Said William Muccleray in the State of South Carolina, date not recollected, by one John Dillard a Justice of the Peace and that her husband died at his residence in Tuscaloosa County Alabama on the 1st day of November AD 1854 and that she is now a widow. She further declares that her said husband in his lifetime made application for County land under the Act approved September 28th 1850 and obtained a land Warrant no. for Eighty acres which he the said William Muckleray in his lifetime legally

Personally appeared before me D M James the undersigned Justice of the peace in and for the County and State aforesaid Aaron Moore and Jonathan who being duly Sworn according to Law deposith and says that they the affiants have known Kiziah Muckelroy Widow of William Muckelroy deceased intimately for the last Thirty Eight years the affiants further States that they knew them to be together and live together as man and wife, and that they were reputed So to be, and that the fact of there having been married was never called in question by there acquaintances.

The affiants further States that they both were present at the time of the death of William Muckelroy, which was on or about the 1st day of November 1854 and that they both have known Kiziah Muckelroy Widow of William Muckelroy, intimately ever Since the death of her Said husband and know that She is at this time a Widow.

The affiants further States that Kiziah Muckelroy is the identical person who applied for Bounty Lands under the act of March 1855 No 219.262
