Herman, I also live in the country about 5 miles from where Alexander Owens owned 80 acres in Desoto County, Ms. Did you know about his second marriage and the two children born of it? As I said some of his children followed him here but others stayed in Ala. I found some of their names in a court paper where they were duking it out about Alexander's place. I guess all was forgiven for by the time I came along my grandfather loved all his neices and nephews and they loved their "Uncle Martin". Needless to say I think the land ended up stolen from all of them. Are there still a lot of relatives in Bibb County who carry the Owen's name? Some information on this family from Clara Deason Smith. She indicated that Matilda's children by Henry Owens included Ike, Jackson, John, James, and a son named Allen who never married.

Following obit found by Steven Yates in the Centreville Press, published Thursday, July 10, 1913, on the front page of the paper in the Little Hope News column: We are sorry to say that Mrs. H. Owens died on last Saturday morning and was buried Sunday in Little Hope Cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Eld. J.D. McElroy, large attendance being at the burial. She was 73 years of age and leaves an aged husband and a number of married children, relatives, and friends to mourn her sad death.
