Reach Family

Jacque Otts and I have made several discoveries over the last year regarding the ancestors and descendants of Charles REACH who died in Bibb Co. in 1833. Following is some of the information and the sources we used. We have more information on sources and notes than I am posting here. If you would like more info, email me at B B Perry or Jacque Otts. Both of us have extensive family commitments right now, however, so be patient. We'll eventually get back to you!

Charles REACH m. Temperance EMBRY May 25, 1792 in Wake Co., NC (Source: "Marriages of Wake Co., NC 1770-1868." comp. by B. Holcomb, Genealogical Publishing Co., 1983). He married Milly BAILEY November 12, 1806 in Oglethorpe Co., Georgia (Source: Georgia Marriages to 1850, Ancestry.com). This is the Milly listed in his will. 1. CHARLES1 REACH (JEREMIAH PARKERA, TIMOTHYB RICH) was born Abt. 1762 in South Carolina?, and died 1833 in Bibb Co., Alabama. He married (1) TEMPERANCE EMBRY May 25, 1792 in Wake Co., North Carolina, daughter of THOMAS EMBRY and ANNE JACKSON. She died Bef. 1806. He married (2) MILLY BAILEY November 12, 1806 in Oglethorpe Co., Georgia. She was born 1790 in South Carolina, and died 1850 in Bibb Co., Alabama.

In addition, various Wake Co., NC records indicate that our Charles REACH was often spelling his name Charles RICH and was the youngest son of Jeremiah Parker REACH/RICH and Mary HUNTER. Jeremiah REACH/RICH d. in Wake Co., NC in 1780. See his will, in which son Charles was named executor, at:

1. TIMOTHY1 RICH was born Abt. 1700 in England, and died Bef. 1736 in Goochland Co., Virginia. He married CATHERINE PARKER Bef. 1725 in England. She was born Abt. 1700 in England.

Although we have not definitively proven that our Charles REACH is the Charles REACH/RICH of Wake Co., NC, the evidence uncovered so far points that way. Also, Nimrod REACH who d. in Bibb Co. in 1830 was the first cousin of Charles (Nimrod3, Timothy2, Timothy1).
